Sexual Assault Support and Help for Americans Abroad, SASHAA, is a program of Pathways to Safety International. Pathways to Safety International (formerly Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center, AODVC) created and launched the SASHAA program to specifically address the need for increased support and response to American sexual assault survivors overseas. SASHAA provides sexual assault training and webinars, outreach and resources, and direct response for Americans studying, volunteering, working, traveling, or serving abroad. We serve Americans of all genders, races, ethnicity, religion, abilities, and age.
On a yearly basis, over 300,000 American students study abroad, 80 million Americans travel overseas, 8.7 million Americans live overseas, and approximately 450,000 military personnel and their dependents live overseas.
Sexual Assault Support and Help for Americans Abroad, SASHAA, works with abused Americans in foreign countries, both civilian and military populations, to provide sexual assault advocacy and response, resources and tools so that they can navigate the complicated jurisdictional, legal & social international landscapes, to be able to live their lives free of abuse either in the foreign country or back in the United States.
We envision a world with diversity and respect where all people live with their fundamental human rights intact including full autonomy over their own bodies.
